Google on Wednesday started rolling out its updated Calendar app for Android with some changes based on users' feedback.
From a Google+ update announcement post, company said that the users will "see lots of improvements to the new Google Calendar app based on your feedback with more coming soon." Additionally, a Google Calendar app for iPhone is also in the works.
Like other Google app updates, the updated Google Calendar app is also rolling out gradually. It hasn't yet reached the Google Play India and we are expecting it to come over the weekend or so. Android Police has the Google-signed apk file (Google Calendar v5.1) for impatient users to sideload.
According to the changelog provided by Google, the updated Google Calendar app now enables pinch-to-zoom and a 'Week' view along with '3 Day' and 'Day' view, which was earlier '5 Day' and 'Day' only. Users will now be able to add Google Drive files to events, and company says that Drive will even check if everyone can open them. They can also "control whether birthdays from Google+ are shown in settings," and similar changes will come over to Web next week. Other changes include "a new option to show week numbers in settings," and "import .ics files sent to you in Gmail and other apps."
Meanwhile, Google has also updated the Google Search app to version 4.2, which too seems to be rolling out in phases/ regions. It has not yet rolled out in India.
